Ski Trip Cash

For the Christmas holidays I was going skiing in western Canada. I knew the monetary unit in Canada was the Canadian dollar, but I was not sure if I really needed to exchange my US travel money. My brother said I was better off if I exchanged the money for Canadian currency at a bank, but many retailers take US dollars. They even have conversions at the cash register. One US dollar is worth 1.01189 Canadian dollars, so it is very close to being equal.
